Government advice on minimum EPC standards

Starting in April 2018 landlords should be aware that the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) regulations will make it unlawful to let a domestic or commercial property that fails to achieve a 'E' rating or higher.

With AXA reporting one in twenty homes will fail to meet this rating many landlords will have to take action to improve their energy efficient rating of their properties.

To help out, the department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy has released a guidance document for landlords so their properties can achieve this rating.

The full guide can be viewed here and provides advice on funding, exemptions, enforcement and the appeals framework.
